I took the photograph below of our dachshund puppy, Cocoa Puff, at eight weeks of age as she ventured out onto the sunporch for the first time. I was struck by how her posture and the accidental composition of the photo made it look as if a whole world was opening out in front of her. I decided to try and interpret this photo in glass-on-glass mosaic, a fairly new medium for me, and you see the result above. I’m also including a photograph of the piece taken at night, as the colors and detail show better when it is not backlit.
