Snow Garden, Box 13 Artspace, Houston, TX 2015, sugar, fabric, found objects, dimensions variable
In 2015 I was fortunate to get to do an installation at Box 13 Artspace in Houston in their little window box gallery. It was a charming little space and I filled it up with my sugar sculptures and called it “Snow Garden,” inspired by a comment my friend Asako made about some sugar pieces I displayed in another setting. At the time I was using gnomes in a lot of my pieces as a visual metaphor for people with disabilities. My husband took this photo of me communing with the gnomes during installation and it brings back such happy memories.
